Luis Garcia

Obituary of Luis R. Garcia

Luis Roberto Garcia, 83, son of Guillermo Garcia Guillioli and Gerarda Monterroso, father of Marisa Boche. Grandfather of William, Christian, and Andrew Boche, and great grandfather of Gianni Manuel Boche was a devout catholic, literary, and citizen of this great country he loved so much. Never was there a man who adored the traditions and living in a country that was not original his, but without a doubt forever will be. Born Sept. 1, 1932, in Guatemala City, Guatemala C.A., he worked and studied hard all his life, achieving and receiving his degree in teaching. An avant-garde, respected by friends and family alike, it didn't stop him from following his mother and his daughter to the United States in '78, where he worked a variety of jobs, all around New Jersey to Virginia. He exercised his freedom with pride and supported many veterans with much praise. He had love for many sports, but the American pass time of baseball he adopted with such affection. "There has never been more of a complete sport than baseball", he would say. To his daughter and grandchildren, he was a rock that gave the most wise and supportive consultation. Comedy came naturally to Luis, as there was not a single time he couldn't make friends, family, and even strangers laugh. His grandson Andrew always saw him as a sleek, intellectually well read Chieftain. There wasn't a man or woman he came across that didn't recognize the self made scholar that he was, his intellectual conjecture and demeanor. There wasn't one subject discussed that he could not give a studious riposte . He is recognized and remembered as numerous things, a brilliant man, compassionate and stern, a hardcore Yankee fan, a poet, devotee of classic music and cinema, a handkerchief carrying wisecracker, supporter, lover of nature, an independent force. As "Bob", Robertín, el Conejo, (mi) Viejo, as Tata, as papa, but most importantly will he forgotten?....Never. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 23rd from 9 – 11 am at the funeral home with burial following at Forest Green Park Cemetery, 535 Texas Road, Morganville, NJ.
