Salvatrice Cassarino Di Martino, of South Hackensack, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home, on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at the age of 67 years. Born in Santa Croce Camerina, Province of Ragusa, Italy, she came to this country in 1969 settling in Hackensack and lived in South Hackensack for 25 years. Prior to retiring she was a crossing guard for the City of Hackensack for more than 15 years. Previously, she was a dress designer for children's clothing. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and was an amazing cook. Beloved wife for 47 years of Salvatore DiMartino. Devoted mother of Ross Di Martino and his wife Sarah of South Hackensack, Enza Giambertone and her husband Greg of South Hackensack, and Rosaly Oliveri and her husband Raffaele of North Haledon. Cherished grandmother of Lilia, Jake, Marco, Antonio, Joseph, and Salvatore. Devoted daughter of Rosalia Mandara and the late Angelo Cassarino. Dearest sister of Carmelo Cassarino and his wife Giuseppina of Hackensack, and Franca Abruzzese and her husband Claudio of Ragusa, Italy. Adored aunt of many nieces and nephews. The funeral on Friday, September 30th, at 9:45 AM from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. The Mass of Requiem at St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church, 72 Lodi Street, Hackensack at 11:00 AM with entombment following at St. Mary's Cemetery in Saddle Brook. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM.
