Obituary of Joseph M. Mellone

JOSEPH M. MELLONE, of Hackensack, died on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Prior to his retiring he was an engineer working for Azzolina and Feury in Paramus for many years. He was a Past Director of the Hackensack Housing Authority, member of the Hackensack Chapter of Unico National, member of the Maywood Knights of Columbus #3426, member of the Hackensack Troast Athletic Club, member of the St. Francis Holy Name Society, Past President of the St. Francis Usher's Society, member of the St. Francis Socialites and a parishioner of St. Francis R.C. Church, Hackensack. Beloved husband of 64 years to the late Josephine T. (nee Zisa) who died in 2014. Loving father of Roseann Heytink and her husband Gerry of Hillsdale and Joseph Mellone and his wife Maddie of Hackensack. Cherished grandfather of Sarah and Chris Axelrod, Lisa Heytink and Karen and Jonce Dimoski. Great grand father of Maren Axelrod. Cherished brother of Al Mellone and his wife Theresa of Hackensack. Joseph is also survived by several loving and caring nieces, nephews, many close friends and his devoted caretaker Tatia. The funeral will begin on Friday, March 3rd, at 8:45 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Twp. of Washington. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation. Donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the Hackensack Troast Athletic Club Scholarship Fund, 74 Troast Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
