Obituary of Joseph E Brown Jr.

Joseph E. Brown Jr. of South Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the age of 78 years. Joe's years in law enforcement began when he joined the Bergen Country Sheriff's Department in 1967. He then became an officer in the Hackensack Police Department from 1968-1973. He joined the South Hackensack Police Department where he worked for 25 years and served as the South Hackensack Police Chief from 1995 -1998. Joe continued his service in law enforcement and became a Supervising Special Agent for CSX Railroad of Jacksonville, FL. Joe was a member of the PBA # 102 of South Hackensack, FOP # 46, NJ Honor Legion, Bergen County Police Chief's Association, the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club of Carlstadt, the V. F. W. Post # 8005 of South Hackensack and a former volunteer firefighter at the South Hackensack Company # 2. Joe proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army in 1963. Beloved husband of the late Barbara (nee Barry) who passed away in 2009. Devoted father of Lyn Collins and her husband Chris of Bloomfield, Jean Anne Brown of Toms River, Danny Brown of South Hackensack, and Christopher Adcock and his wife Loren of Westwood. Dearest "significant other" of Jean Aqualina of South Hackensack. Cherished grandfather of Melissa, James, Veronica, Ian, Jennifer, Stephen, C. J., Thomas, Sarah, Taylor, and Danielle. Adored great grandfather of Joanna, Madison, Annabelle, and Amelia. Dearest brother of John Brown and his wife Janet of Fair Lawn, Paul Brown and his wife Cathy of Lake Hiawatha, Judy De Lillo of Ovieda, Florida, Rebecca Gardner of Clifton, Debbie Ann Miller of Lake Hopatcong, Nel De Lillo of Lake Hopatcong and the late Gary Brown. The funeral on Thursday, December 31st, at 9:45 AM from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, with entombment following at Hackensack Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM.
