Obituary of Nancy DiDonato
It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy DiDonato (née Ferraro) of Hackensack, NJ, passed away at the age of 98 on January 14th in South Carolina. Nancy was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, James, who was the love of her life. Also, predeceased by brothers, Anthony Ferraro, Michael Ferraro, Gerard Ferraro; sisters, Rose Ackley, Gloria Maurer, Theresa DiDonato and Marie Mitchell. She is survived by daughters, Patricia DiDonato and Maria Scaglione; grandchildren, Jennifer Vitale (partner Thomas Lagno), David Perrone (wife Robin), Matthew Perrone, Lisa Roche (husband Eddie) and Thomas Maltese. She is survived by her great-grandchildren Nicole Vitale, Kaitlyn Roche, James Lagno, Abigail Perrone, Alice Perrone and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was a devout Catholic, as she was a parishioner and active in Holy Trinity Church of Hackensack. In later years, she joined St. Francis Church of Hackensack. Nancy worked at Goldberg's Slipper Factory of Hackensack until she found her calling as a hair dresser. She graduated from Beautician School and eventually opened up her own salon, which was quite an accomplishment. Above all, Nancy enjoyed family time whether it was holiday dinners or just playing cards with anyone who would play with her. She also enjoyed watching Shirley Temple movies, going to Atlantic City, and cheering on the Mets. These simple pleasures brought her great joy. Evidence of all her knitting and crocheting can be found in the homes of many family members and friends. Also, she enjoyed knitting many blankets, caps and booties for newborns. Tatting, a skill not seen much today, laced many a handkerchief or pillowcase. Her smile, spunkiness and laughter will be missed, along with her delicious Italian homemade pasta sauce. Although Nancy is gone, her memories will live in our hearts forever.
