Obituary of Marie Delores Ruta

Marie Delores Ruta (nee Cacciatore), 93, of Williamsburg, Virginia – passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, she grew up in Garfield, New Jersey and later lived in South Hackensack and Little Ferry, New Jersey where she was a long-time resident. A devoted wife and mother, she raised her family with her beloved husband Mario. In 2016, Marie and Mario moved to Williamsburg, Virginia spending their twilight years residing with their son Anthony and family. Marie worked as a bookkeeper in the construction and waste management industries and homemaker for much of her life. She was a dedicated Grandmother, Mother, Mother-in-Law, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Aunt, Cousin, and friend and neighbor to many. Throughout her life, Marie enjoyed family vacations, cheering on the New York Yankees and attending her children's and grandchildren's activities, events, and milestones. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Ruggerio "Mario" Ruta, her parents, Salvatore and Salvatrice Cacciatore, her siblings, Sam, Louis, Joe, Fay DePiero, Josephine Regula, Vincenza Teixeria, Lucille Bohannon, and trusted canine Reagan. Marie was a devoted mother to Kevin Ruta of South Plainfield, New Jersey, Anthony Ruta and his wife Michelle of Williamsburg, Virginia, and grandmother to their children Vincent, Nicholas, and Micaela. Marie will be remembered for her unwavering love, strength, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her family and friends will miss her dearly and carry forward the values she instilled in them. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, New Jersey 07601 with visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.
