Obituary of Alvin E. Lindsay

Alvin Lindsay, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with illness surrounded by his family. A native of Jamaica, West Indies, and a life-long resident of Hackensack, NJ, Alvin was 80 years old. He was an employee of Hackensack University Medical Center and Bergen Pines County hospital until his retirement in 2005. A man of immense strength, kindness, and integrity, he spent his life providing for and nurturing his family, always placing the needs of others above his own. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Yvonne, Alvin found solace in the shared memories and family they built together. He is survived by his sister Gloria, brother Clifton, daughter Marlene, sons Paul, Desmond, Kenneth and Joseph, 6 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family who will forever cherish his memories. Visitation will be held at G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, on Thursday, April 17 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Service and Entombment will be at the Garden of Memories Mausoleum & Cemetery, 300 Soldier Hill Road, Township of Washington, NJ 07676, on Friday, April 18 at 10:45am.
