Obituary of Benjamin D. Dimaano

Benjamin D. Dimaano, of Teaneck, NJ — a beloved father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend — passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in the Philippines, Benjamin immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1967. He later married his beloved wife of 54 years, Connie, in Seattle, WA. While in Seattle, he worked for Lockheed Shipbuilding before moving to the East Coast, where he was employed by Bethlehem Steel in Hoboken, NJ. Prior to his retirement, he worked for many years at Fluid Systems Inc. in Fairfield, NJ. He was a devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Hackensack. Benjamin was a loving father to Christopher Dimaano, and to Cherlyn Dailey and her husband Michael. He was a cherished grandfather to Michael and Cassidy. He is also survived by his dear siblings: Gaudencio Dimaano and his wife Nila; Lourdes Luciano and her husband Manuel; and Flordeliza Flores and her husband Francisco. He was predeceased by his sister, Lilia Padida, and her husband Gregorio. Benjamin leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. An avid sports fan, Benjamin enjoyed cheering for the New York Rangers and Giants. Above all, he treasured time with his family — especially traveling across North America to watch his grandchildren play ice hockey. He lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and devotion to his family. Benjamin will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 8:45 AM at G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack. Burial will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes, NJ. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
