Vito A. Cardone Jr. Obituary

Vito A. Cardone, Jr. of Howard Beach, NY (formerly of Bergen and Monmouth Counties, NJ), passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the age of 92 years.

Vito was born in Brooklyn, NY, and attended Brooklyn Tech High School. He later moved to Emerson, NJ, and graduated from Westwood High School in 1950. Shortly thereafter, he entered the United States Air Force and served as an air traffic controller during the Korean Conflict. For his service, Vito received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Vito met the love of his life, Marie, in Hackensack, and they married in 1957. A skilled mechanical engineer and draftsman, Vito co-owned and operated United Products Manufacturing in South Hackensack for many years. He was an inspiration to his employees and was known as a fair manager who treated everyone like family.

A devoted fan of baseball and football, Vito cheered for the Mets and the Jets. In retirement, he found joy in crafting birdhouses, which he generously donated to local senior centers for residents to paint and decorate.

Vito was also an avid gardener, tending his beloved garden with great care. He was especially proud of his hot peppers, eggplants, and famously delicious Jersey tomatoes. At the end of each summer, he would pickle his peppers and share them with family and friends.

Vito was first a parishioner at St. Francis R.C. Church in Hackensack, then at Assumption R.C. Church in Emerson, and finally at St. Catherine-St. Margaret Parish in Spring Lake.

Beloved husband of the late Marie B. (nee DeRiso) (1985). Dearest brother of the late Doris Cimino. Devoted father of Alysa M. O'Shea and Mark J. Cardone. Cherished grandfather of Jeremiah J. O'Shea; and Christopher, Corey, and Tyler Cardone. Survived by loving nieces and nephews Rosemary Canavan; Michael, Paul, and Laura Cimino; Elizabeth Anne Mliczek; and Dr. Robert T. Ingoglia.

The Funeral will begin from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, on Thursday, June 5th, at 9:45 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 11:00 AM at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, NJ, with burial following at Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation at the Funeral Home.
