Emma L. Monroy Obituary

Emma Leon Monroy, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, surrounded by love and memories. She spent many of her most cherished years at Long Beach Island, a place that brought her endless joy, peace, and comfort. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Luis Monroy, and her dear children Muriel, Amilcar, and Louis, all of whom she held close to her heart. She is survived by her daughter Astrid and her husband Dennis, and her son Hamlet and his wife Veronica. She was the proud grandmother of Tracy, Stephen, Kelly, Brynn, Tyler, Devon, Matt, Christie, and Lexy, and great-grandmother to Lucas, Samantha, DJ, Benjamin, Hunter, and Remi. Emma also leaves behind her loving sisters Sara Vanderpaauw and Ascen Barbosa, and her dear brothers Ricardo Leon and Alvaro Leon, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she adored and who brought her great joy. Emma's family was her greatest treasure, and her warmth, strength, and grace left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her love for the beach reflected her spirit—peaceful, enduring, and full of beauty. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her. The Funeral will begin on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 8:45 AM at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack. Cremation will be private. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation at the funeral home.
