Barbara J. Giardino Obituary

Barbara J. Giardino (nee Bellassai), of Hackensack, NJ passed away surrounded by the love of her family on December 1, 2025, at the age of 87. Barbara was the proud mother of four daughters: Lori Prescott and her husband Curt, Barbara Rodak and her husband Brian, Suzanne Urbach and her husband Mike, and Pattie Bavlitschko. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She adored her nine grandchildren: Nicole, Brian, Allison, Ashli, Matthew, Taylor, Michaela, John, and Sydney. She celebrated the arrival of four great-grandchildren: Riley, Hunter, Ava, and Skylar, and was already joyfully awaiting the newest little one on the way. Zoey, her cherished lap companion, was never far from her side. Born to John Bellassai and Mildred DelGuidice, she lived a full life, and her creativity, compassion, and joy showed in everything she did. She grew up in Bogota alongside her four siblings: Phyllis Kazinci (Dick), Rosemary Fries (Ronnie-both deceased), Carmen Bellassai (Carolanne), and Sal Bellassai (Sheila-deceased). She was also predeceased by her former husband, Frank Giardino (2019). She was also an aunt to many nieces and nephews. From a young age, Barbara had a passion for dancing. It was one of the ways she expressed her spirited and joyful nature. Among her many talents, she was a gifted seamstress who poured love into every stitch and a wonderful cook whose meals brought the whole family around the table. Determined and hardworking, Barbara later put herself through beauty school. Her dedication and creativity led her to open her own hair salon in Hackensack—a place where she made others feel beautiful and welcomed. Barbara had a deep love for Elvis Presley and the color purple, two things that always filled her life with a bit of extra joy. Holidays were especially meaningful to her. Her decorations never disappointed, and she was famous for her holiday earrings and sweaters that lit up or even played music, spreading cheer to everyone around her. Halloween held a special place in her heart. Barbara loved dressing up and warmly greeting every trick-or-treater who came to her door. Barbara will be remembered for her creativity, her warmth, her humor, and the many ways she cared for her family. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished. Visitation will be held at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, on Thursday, December 4th, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., with a prayer service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack.
