James R. Fisher Obituary

With deepest sorrow and heavy hearts, we remember and celebrate the life of James R. Fisher, Jr., of Maywood, who passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the age of 75.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Jim was the eldest son of Helen Fisher and James R. Fisher, Sr. After graduating Hackensack High School in 1968, he went on to obtain an Art degree from Parsons School of Design and a Music degree and Marketing degree from Rutgers University. Between earning his degrees, James traveled the U.S. as a bass guitarist with various bands. Jim went on to work with his father in New York City in the graphic art field and as an art director. He then went on to learn IT and worked with Citigroup Smith Barney, while also passionately running his own company, Fisher-James Inc.

Jim deeply enjoyed taking care of any and all animals and humans that crossed his path. He loved traveling all over the U.S. and Europe with family and friends. Whether at home or abroad he pursued adventure by tasting new beers, and he found joy in discovering music and art. He greatly enjoyed cooking for his family and spending every moment with them in the backyard under their dogwood tree. As he would say, "his family is his world." His endless generosity reached every person he ever met with a smile and laugh that brightened every room he walked into.

A beloved husband and best friend to his wife, Verena "Rena" M. Brunner, their story is filled with unconditional love and laughter. It was never a dull moment for them even after 50 years of being together. A devoted father of Verena "Liz" (Anthony) and Rebecca (Timothy) who he absolutely adored. A great family man who cherished every moment with his sons-in-law, his nephews and nieces, and his sisters-and-brothers-in-law, including his cats and the wide variety of animals that came under his care.

Jim will be greatly missed by friends, family, and all those who have ever had the pleasure of meeting him. The family will receive all from 12:00PM - 4:00PM, on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. After, a memorial will be held at Hackensack Brewery, 78 Johnson Avenue, Hackensack from 4:00PM - 6:00PM to enjoy memories over a beer just as he'd like.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to St. Jude Children's Hospital www.stjude.org/donate or RBARI (Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc.) www.rbari.org/donate.
