James J. Walker III Obituary

James J. Walker III, of Lavallette, formerly of Hackensack, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2025 at the age of 79 years. James grew up in Hoboken and eventually moved to Hackensack to raise his family. Prior to retiring he worked for the Hackensack Fire department for 37 years attaining the rank of Lieutenant and was a member of the I.A.F.F. James also proudly served in the United State Army during Vietnam 1966 – 1968 and was a founding member of the Bergen County Arson Squad. He was a parishioner of St. Francis R.C. Church in Hackensack. Loving father of James J. Walker IV, Michael R. Walker and Joseph F. Walker. Adored grandfather of Frankie Zito. Dearest brother of the late Kathleen Cody and Dennis M. Walker. The Funeral will begin from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, on Friday, February 13, at 9:30 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 11:00 AM at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, NJ. Cremation will be private. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, for visitation at the Funeral Home.
