Bernard E. Malin Esq. Obituary

Bernard E. Malin Esq. ("Ben"), 83, of Hackensack, NJ, passed away peacefully on Feb 23, 2026 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Ben graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hackensack, St. Peter's College in Jersey City, and Fordham Law School. He proudly served as an officer and attorney in the US Army. Ben dedicated his life to the practice of law in Bergen County, serving as one of the first full-time Public Defenders of Bergen County in addition to maintaining a private law practice for over forty years. He was well respected and admired in the legal community among friends, clients and adversaries. Ben was an avid tennis player, he loved Long Beach Island and the Caribbean and always stayed active learning to windsurf and sail later in life. Ben is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Malin (née Grayson), who was steadfastly dedicated to his care for the past ten years; his children, Benjamin, Theodore, Laura, and George; and eleven grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Ben was predeceased by his former wife, Elizabeth Malin (née Vorhees), the loving mother of his sons, Benjamin and Theodore; his beloved wife, Sarah Malin (née Mack), the loving mother of Laura and George; and his eldest grandson, Edward Zeus Malin. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb 27, from 3 PM to 7 PM at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. A mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, Feb 28, at Holy Trinity Church, 34 Maple Ave, Hackensack, NJ.
