Lloyd Randolph Currier Obituary

Lloyd Randolph Currier was born in Westfield, New Jersey on September 9, 1930 to Edith Gould Currier and Raymond Pillsbury Currier. He attended public schools there and graduated from Croton-Harmon High School, Croton-on-Hudson, New York. He received an AB degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1954. Following two years service in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman, he received an MS degree in healthcare administration from Columbia University in 1958. He married Gloria Mosher, a registered nurse of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, had three children; Gregory, Dawn, and Jonathan; resided in Elizabeth, Roselle Park, Cranford and Shrewsbury New Jersey until they divorced in 1984. In 1992 he married Rosalba Rojas, a doctor of physical therapy practicing in Hudson County New Jersey. They resided in Hackensack, New Jersey. During his professional career Mr. Currier served as Associate Director of Elizabeth General Hospital, Elizabeth New Jersey, Administrator of Freehold Area Hospital, Freehold New Jersey and President and CEO of Christ Hospital, Jersey City, New Jersey. He was a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the American Hospital Association, a member of the New Jersey Hospital Association where he served on its Board of Trustees and several committees, Chairman of the Voluntary Hospitals of America – New Jersey, Chairman of the Essex-Hudson Hospital Council, a member of the Hospital Administrators Forum of New Jersey and the volunteer Executive Director of the Hudson County Medical Society. Mr. Currier enjoyed hiking and camping which he pursued over his lifetime in fourteen eastern and western states. He and his family auto camped summers in New England, and the Southeastern and Western United States. He enjoyed and regularly attended performances of the American Ballet Theatre, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He traveled in China, Japan, Tibet, India, Spain, France, Germany, in South America to visit his wife's family, and in the United States to visit his brothers, sister, children and grandchildren. He was involved in numerous community activities including the Rotary Club of Jersey City (Past President), Lincoln Association of Jersey City (Past President), Jersey City YMCA (board chairman), and the boards of the American Cancer Society (Hudson Unit), the Cusack Care Center, the Jersey City State College Orchestra, Youth Consultation Service in Newark, New Jersey, and was a member of the University Club of Jersey City. In Hackensack, New Jersey he was a member of the Christ Church Community Development Corporation, the Northern Regional Council of Youth Consultation Service (past chairman), and the Medical Services Committee of the Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative. He was vestryman and warden of St. Lukes Church in Roselle, NJ and Christ Church, Shrewsbury, NJ and vestryman of Christ Church, Hackensack, NJ. He also participated in a Sister Cities school construction and medical clinic project in Nicaragua. He is survived by his beloved wife Rosalba (nee Rojas), his devoted children; Gregory Currier and wife Angela of Canton, Georgia. Dawn Prendeville and husband Michael of Bethlehem, PA. Jonathan Currier and wife Bonnie of Marietta, Georgia. Five grandchildren; Alexander, Stephen, Emily, Michael, five step-grandchildren; Nicole, Bradley, Lucas, Justin, Morgan. He was pre-deceased by one grandchild, Nicholas. Visitation will be held at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A prayer service will be held Wednesday morning 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
