Lucille S. Clapps (nee Banno), of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the age of 89 years. Prior to retiring she worked as a secretary, in the Payroll Department for the City of Hackensack for many years. Lucille was a parishioner at St. Francis R. C. Church where she was a member of the Socialites. Beloved wife for 61 years to the late Paul J. Clapps (2017). Devoted mother of John Clapps and his wife Helene of Stanford, CT, Paul Clapps of Hackensack, and Roseann Vesia and her husband Michael of Maywood. Cherished grandmother of Madeline and her husband Logan, Paul and his wife Anais, Rocky and Casey and great-grandmother of Willa, Morrison and Arthur. Dearest sister of Rosemarie, Yolanda and the late Tony and Gracie. The Funeral will begin on Thursday, May 21, at 8:45 AM from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:00 AM at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, with burial following George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 20, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation at the funeral home.
