Eugene P. "Gene" Foschino, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Hasbrouck Heights on Friday, May 15, 2026. Born on December 4, 1940, in Little Ferry, NJ, Gene was the beloved son of the late Alfred and Mary Foschino. He grew up in Hackensack, where he learned early the value of hard work, independence, and forging one's own path. Gene believed deeply in learning through experience—shaping a life defined by determination, generosity, and a spirit that welcomed everyone he met. Before retiring, Gene worked for many years as a Mechanic for the D.P.W. in West New York, NJ. Prior to that, he owned and operated his own business, Gene's Service, and worked at Dick's Shell Station. His work ethic was rooted in his youth, when he spent countless hours alongside family contributing to the success of the Foschino Florist Supplies business. He was also a member of the Communications Workers of America. Gene found joy in simple pleasures and familiar places. He loved spending time in upstate New York and at Overpeck Park. He could often be found at his "garage", or tuned into the stock channel, or out and about in town sharing conversation. His kind and giving heart, paired with his upbeat, magnetic personality, made him a cherished presence in the community. Gene had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen—offering a wave, a smile, and a listening ear to anyone who needed it. Over the years, he built a large "family" of friends who were drawn to his warmth, humor, and unwavering positivity. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Francis R.C. Church in Hackensack. Gene was the loving son of the late Alfred and Mary Foschino; the devoted father of the late Wendy Foschino (1961); and the dearest brother of Carol Foschino and the late Alfred, Marion, Richard, and Thomas Foschino. He was a cherished uncle to many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 12:00–2:00 PM at the G.
