James F. Williams, Jr. departed this life on May 14, 2026 at the age of 77. He was predeceased by his parents, James F. Williams, Sr. and Margaret E. Williams (nee Smith). James Jr. (Jimmy) was born at Hackensack Hospital on August 9, 1948. Jimmy received his early education in the Hackensack Public School System, graduating from Hackensack High School in 1966. After high school, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam. After serving his country for three years, he received an Honorable Discharge in 1970. As was the case for many Vietnam veterans, Jimmy faced a series of challenges after returning from the war. But through family support, spiritual faith, and his unwavering determination to succeed, he persevered.

On December 7, 1989, Jimmy married his long-term girlfriend, Stephanie Dugger (nee Lucas). Jimmy and Stephanie relocated to Syracuse, NY, where he, at the age of 60, earned a degree in nursing from SUNY Upstate at BOCES. They later settled in Hope Mills, NC. Jimmy worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for several years, ultimately caring for Stephanie as her health declined. On March 6, 2021, Stephanie passed away at the age of 70, with Jimmy at her side. After Stephanie's death, Jimmy returned to Hackensack, where his sister Fern and nephew Kahlil lovingly supported and cared for him until his passing. Jimmy leaves behind his sister Kathleen (Lawrence Sr.), his sister Fern, and his brother Barry Sr. (Raquel). He was the father of Charity and Tiffany, and bonus dad to Keith, Kyle, and Kerry. Jimmy was also the grandfather of Maya, Malik, Jaelani, Alaina, and Aleah. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. The Funeral will begin on Friday, May 22, 2025 at 8:45 AM at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus.
