BICE FILOMENA PADULA DI MATTEO age 88, of Newton, formerly of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2017 surrounded by her family at the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Home in Newton, NJ. Born in Acquavia D'Isernia, Italy. She came to the United States in 1956 and was joined by her husband Domenico and sons Anastasio, John and Franco in 1959 and settled in Hackensack where she resided for over 60 years. Bice and Domenico sponsored and helped many relatives that made their way to this country. She was a hard worker not only at her job pressing ties at Randa Neckwear but also at home taking care of her family, home and working in her garden. A selfless person and a loving grandmother one of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Bice was a generous grandmother and great grandmother she will be missed by all who knew her. She was a parishioner of Church of the Immaculate Conception, Hackensack. Beloved wife of the late Domenico Di Matteo who passed away in 2008. Loving mother of Anastasio Di Matteo and his wife Deborrah, Franco Di Matteo and his wife Tara and the late John Di Matteo. Cherished grandmother of Christina Di Matteo and her husband Kitch Ziegler, Julia Belmonte and her husband Peter and Domenic Di Matteo. Devoted great grandmother of Matteo, Olivia and Mary. The funeral will begin on Tuesday, April 11th, at 9:45 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 49 Vreeland Avenue, Hackensack, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation.
