Obituary of Clementine Montenegro

CLEMENTINE "DOLLY" RUTA MONTENEGRO passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Dolly served as a councilwoman and Mayor of South Hackensack for two terms. She also served as one of the first licensed finance officers in the state of New Jersey for both South Hackensack and Norwood. She was a Charter member of the South Hackensack Republican Club and advocate for all citizens in her town, regardless of party. Author of many letters to the Editor and the Newsletter, "Our town", Dolly was also known for her wit and "Roasts" of many a retiree. Dolly also served her beloved South Hackensack as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Fire Company Number two and the Ambulance Corp as well as the Planning Board. In her retirement she also served as the Town Historian, often offering information on the zoning and improvements made during her extensive years of service to the town. Dolly was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of South Hackensack and elected President for multiple terms. Dolly was a parishioner of the Church of Immaculate Conception, Hackensack. The daughter of the late Virginia and Sebastian Ruta, Loving sister of Irma LoPresti and the late Anthony LoPresti, Geraldyne Paolella and husband Patrick, Ronald Ruta and his wife Joanne. Loving mother of Frances Borg and Ginger Montenegro. Proud grandmother of Stephanie and Christopher Borg. Cherished aunt and cousin to many. The funeral will begin on Tuesday, April 18, at 10:15 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 49 Vreeland Avenue, Hackensack, at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and Monday, April 17th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM for visitation.
