Obituary of John P. Curley

John Patrick Curley (86), of River Edge, NJ passed on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. John, affectionately known as Jack and Jackie, by family and friends was born on June 12, 1937 to his parents (predeceased) Sarah and John Curley. He was raised in High Bridge, NYC. He graduated from Manhattan College and went on to earn his law degree from St. John's University and was accepted to the First Judicial Department (seated in Manhattan) in 1963. Jack was a successful leading attorney with The Legal Aid Society, NYC. He lived his professional life, following the Legal Aid belief: that no person should be denied the right to equal justice. Jackie, a devout Catholic, loved his Church, family and friends. He was dearly loved by many, including his decades-long friendships with fellow handball players. He was loved and cherished by his nieces and nephews and will be remembered for his easy-going nature, hearty-belly laugh, and twinkling Irish eyes. Jack is predeceased in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ann Bosshardt Curley. Jackie and Ann loved travel and enjoyed sharing their amazing adventures through his photography. Jack is predeceased by his parents, and brother Fr. Thomas J. Curley. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Curley Madden (WIlliam) and brother-in-law Walter Bosshardt (Noreen), and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Richard Tobin for his years of friendship and service and his caretaker, Violetta. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 29th, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM for visitation at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, NJ. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus.
