Obituary of John R. Donahue

JOHN R. "BOB" DONAHUE, of Hackensack, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the age of 81 years. Prior to retiring, he was the manager for the State of New Jersey Compensation Rating and Inspection Bureau. Previously, he worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Bob served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1948 - 1952, the last two years aboard the Aircraft Carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 106 of Hasbrouck Heights, a member of the V. F. W. Post # 809 of Little Ferry, and Past Exalted Ruler and Honorary Life Member of B.P.O.Elks Lodge # 211 of Jersey City. Bob was born in Jersey City to the late Jessie (nee Perrin) and Frank Donahue. He is survived by his daughter Jessie, a son Robert, a sister, Mildred Cahill and her husband Michael, and his long time friend and companion Lena Marrafioti. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 7th, at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, at 10:00 AM with entombment following at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting will be on Wednesday from 2 - 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Veterans Home of Paramus, 1 Veterans Drive, Paramus, NJ 07652-0608 would be appreciated.
