Obituary of George V. Liosi

GEORGE V. LIOSI, of Bridgeville, Delaware, formerly of Hackensack, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the age of 68 years. Prior to retiring in 2005, he worked for 35 years as a communications teacher and was the Hackensack High School TV/Media Specialist where he created the TV Studio in both the Middle School and High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from the New York Institute of Technology and his Master of Arts Degree from William Paterson College. He was the recipient of a commendation from the Bergen County Freeholders in recognition of his distinguished service to the Hackensack community and dedication to assisting others and also the "Distinguished Citizen Award" from the Hackensack Education Foundation. Not only was he an avid golfer, he was a life member of the Bergen County Players of Oradell and a member of the Teaneck New Theater. Among his many roles include Ben Franklin in 1776, Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Mr. Bumble in the play Oliver, The Emperor's New Clothes, and his role of Santa Claus in "The Christmas Caper." He also was the Coach and Director of Odyssey of the Mind of Hackensack and was a member of the Peninsuleer's Barber Shop Quartet of Maryland. George proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was Honorably Discharged from the Air Force in 1967. Beloved husband for 46 years of Peggy (nee Sellarole). Devoted father of Christine Panayotof and her husband Kosta of Maywood and Gregory Liosi and his wife Beth of Maywood. Cherished grandfather of Peter, Alex, Cosette and Lucas. Dearest brother of Barbara Liosi of Rochelle Park. The funeral on Monday, October 1st, at 9:45 AM from the Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack at 11:00 AM with burial following at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
