Obituary of Albert A. Newman
ALBERT A. "GUS" NEWMAN, a lifelong resident of Hackensack, died on Friday, September 18, 2009, at the age of 87 years. Prior to retiring, he was a structural engineer and owned Albert A. Newman Company of Hackensack for more than 30 years. Serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he graduated in 1949 from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hackensack and a past treasurer for more than 30 years of the Hackensack Rotary Club. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Bergen County Girl Scouts Council, the Board of Directors of the Hackensack
Y. M. C. A. and the Camp Committee of the Y. M. C. A. He also was a member of the Bergen County Historical Society and was a docent at the Steuben House in River Edge. Beloved husband of the late Jeanne Mann Newman. Devoted father of Lois Newman of Chicago, Thomas Newman and his wife Monica of Hawthorne, Edward Newman and his wife Debbie (Bailey) of Maywood, and Neal Newman and his wife Maureen of Middlefield, NY. Loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Dearest brother of the late Spencer Newman. The funeral service on Monday, September 21st, at 1:30 PM, at the First Presbyterian Church of Hackensack, 64 Passaic Street, Hackensack. Interment Hackensack Cemetery.
