Obituary of Rita M. Nowakowski

Rita Mory Nowakowski, of Totowa, formerly of Hackensack, died on Monday, November 13, 2006, at the Little Sisters of the Poor Home in Totowa, at the age of 85 years. Prior to retiring she was a switchboard operator and receptionist for Shorewood Press of New York City. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church and a volunteer at Hackensack University Medical Center. Predeceased by her two husbands, the late Walter Nowakowski , former mayor of Hackensack, and the late Theodore Zukowski, a sister, Maryrose Baddick and a brother, Robert A. Mory, she is survived by her nephew, Jack and Michele Stepick of Emerson, her niece, Susan and Sandolf Ayers of Henniker, New Hampshire, her great nephews, Damien and Wendy Stepick, Jaydn Stepick and Eric Ayers and a great great niece, Julianne Stepick. At her request, a private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph's Chapel in the Little Sisters of the Poor Home, Totowa on Thursday with interment following at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hackensack.
