Obituary of John P. Pinto

JOHN P. PINTO SR., of West Milford, formerly of Hackensack, died on Thursday October 29, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Prior to retiring in 1981, he was the Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Hackensack where he worked for 32 years. After his retirement from the Fire Department John continued working at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home of Hackensack for 22 years. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the I.A.F.F, a member and Past Grand Knight of Trinity Council # 747, the Bishop O’Connor General Assembly 4th Degree of Hackensack, the Showtime Group at Bergen Catholic High School, and a member of the Jet Set Club of West Milford. He was a parishioner of Queen of Peace R.C. Church in Hewitt and St. Francis R.C. Church in Hackensack, where he was a member of their Holy Name Society. Beloved husband of Frances (nee Carlo) and the late Ida (nee Blondina) (1987). Loving father of John P. Pinto Jr. and his wife Linda, Andrea Bernson, Gina Schlegel and her husband Joe, Larry Carlo and his wife Sandy, Linda Wilson and her husband Bob, Joann Erkal and her husband Al and John Carlo and his wife Maureen. Cherished grandfather of Aria, Joseph, John Francis, Thomas, Nicole, Deniz, Ronee, Ceyda, Shannen, Samantha and Anthony. Adored great-grandfather of Kai. Dearest brother of the late Ralph Pinto and Joseph Pinto. John is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 2nd, at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street. Hackensack, at 11:00 AM with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack. Visiting will be on Sunday from 2 – 4 & 7 - 9 PM. Memorial donations to Hospice of New Jersey, 400 Broad Acres Drive, 1st Floor, Bloomfield, New Jersey 07003 would be appreciated.
