Obituary of Carmelo Pitasi

Carmelo "The Barber" Pitasi, of Saddle Brook, died on Saturday, March 25, 2005, at Hackensack University Medical Center, at the age of 78 years. Born in Calabria, Italy, he came to the United State in 1957and owned and operated Carmen's Essex Barber Shop of Hackensack for 50 years prior to retiring. He was a parishioner of St. Francis R. C. Church of Hackensack and was a member of the New Jersey State Barber's Association. Predeceased by his parents the late Antonio and Caterina Florio Pitasi and a brother Domenico Pitasi, he is survived by his wife, Frances Zagari Pitasi, two brothers, Vincenzo Pitasi of Italy and Paolo Pitasi of Hackensack, two sisters, Giovanna Careri of Little Ferry and Rosa Romeo of Italy, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 29th, at 10:00 AM at St. Francis R. C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Saddle Brook. Visiting will be on Monday evening from 7 - 9 PM and Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM.
