I am also from the town of Cresskill, NJ. I would like to my deepest condolences to the family of Ray. My older brother knew Ray better than I, being the same age, as Ray. I and my twin brother Paul are a year younger. Ray was one person that truly inspired me in the mid-sixties into a world of music, especially his performance, when he played with The Utmost. So talented! He is a truly remarkable person! He has and forever will be engraved in my memory, and thoughts. I will pray that God watches over him. God Bless him and his family.

I just got my most recent edition of Berklee News Magazine in the mail today. I read in the Obituaries that Ray passed away.I never got to know Ray, but was always in such awe of his musical talents as the keyboardist, singer, and leader of The Utmost band. His stage presence was professional, even when Ray was in his early teens. The Utmost WAS the premier band of our little town of Cresskill and surrounding area. I remember them playing at Cresskill H.S (CHS) dances and other dances around the area. Ray and The Utmost was one of the major reasons why I wanted to play guitar/music and go to Berklee College of Music. My twin brother, John, took up bass guitar for the same reasons. My older brother, Mark (once a drummer), graduated CHS with Ray in 1970 and was friends with Ray. Thank you, Ray, for the musical memories you gave me and influence you had on me. May you rest in peace in God's arms.

Ray Bauer. I can't think of you without the other Ray Bauers. -- your Father and Mother and their dedication to you and your family -- your first limousine when you had to give up music in Boston -- your son who drove for you -- your return to music. But most of all I think of the amazing solo concert you played at Cresskill High School for your senior finale.

Dear Miranda & Bauer family, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. Ray was a very kind and caring individual as he showed that in the way he worked and spoke with people. I had the pleasure of meeting Ray and working with him while I worked at Sedlak Interiors. To learn of his passing was heartbreaking news. I will be keeping all of you and Ray in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Ray at Cresskill High School, and he was one of the finest musicians we had there, an incredible talent at a young age. I have all fond memories of watching him play at the high school and CYO dances both guitar and piano, topping it off with a great voice and stage presence, and was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
Take comfort in the fact that he made the world (at least my world) a better place to be in through music...Michael

I will always remember the times we spent together growing up from first grade to graduation day. Was sad when you went away to college, but happy what you accomplished. May you be with your mom and dad and even Cocoa. Love you...

Raymond and the Bauers were our neighbors in Cresskill. Raymond was a big brother to me. We played little league baseball on the same team for one year. He was an all-star, I was a rookie. The first car I drove was Raymond's Cadillac. I was 14 and we had a near miss with a bus! He quickly took over after that... The first plane ride I took was with Raymond. We flew up to Boston, I was visiting colleges in the Boston area. I frequented the piano bars he played in Boston. (That impressed many girlfriends)
Fond and loving memories of Raymond and the Bauer clan. We loved everybody so much. It is with great sadness we hear of his passing. It was with great joy that we were able to grow up together.
Love,
Emil Brignola III along with sisters Laurie Jo, Elaine and Christine

Much Love and Memories have been awakened by your passing!
It is not the knowledge, then, but what one does with one's abilities, one's opportunities in relationships to others, that makes for the development of that individual. For life in its manifestations through which the soul of an entity may manifest is purposeful, and that the soul may find its way through the vicissitudes of experience in materiality, that it may know its God.
May You Be In Peace in His Love!

To the Bauer family and Miranda; I am so so sorry for your loss. I have worked with Ray at Sedlak Interiors for several years and have long considered him one of the kindest human beings I have ever known. Always smiling, always interested and so very genuine. I remember thinking recently that he seemed like such a content man; proud of his family and loves, fulfilled by his music and writing. What a wonderful life he seems to have had! You have my deep condolences and know he will be long missed by his friends here at Sedlak's.

Sorry for your loss, Raymond war surely one of the most passionate and genuinely loving men that I have ever known or for that matter, ever worked for. I wish I only could have gotten to know him better as a friend and not only as a mentor.

It is with great sadness that I learn of Rays passing. We were friends for years in Cresskill, and also in Boston. No one in our High School class will ever forget the party the Bauers threw for us for Graduation. I am so very sorry to Rays family. One of the very best people I ever had the privilege to know.
