JOSEPHINE MONTENEGRO GAROFALO, of South Hackensack, passed away peacefully at the Blair House of Milford, MA, with her family by her side, on Sunday, November 29, 2015, at the age of 99. Josephine worked as a waitress for over 40 years, starting at the Blue Lantern in South Hackensack and then working at the Maywood Inn and Jorgensen's Restaurant in Maywood for many years before retiring. Josephine loved life and loved to dance, she was always the life of the party and she especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all. She was a member of the South Hackensack Senior Group, and a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church in Hackensack. Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Garofalo (1987). Loving mother of Brenda J. DalCero and her husband Neil of Milford, MA. Cherished grandmother of Joelle M. Shaver and her husband Tim of Milford, MA and Cheryl R. Allieri and her husband Charlie of Wellesley, MA, great grandmother of Taylor, Amanda and Matthew of Milford, MA and Michael, Isabelle and Jack of Wellesley, MA. Dearest sister of Anthony Montenegro of Fort Pierce, FL and the late Louis, John and Arthur Montenegro, the late Helen Garofalo, Carmela Gaeta and Virginia Jury. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, December 5, at 8:45 AM. The Mass of Requiem at St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church, 72 Lodi Street, Hackensack at 10:00 AM with entombment following at Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of Flowers please make donations in her memory to the St. Anthony of Padua Episcopal Church, 72 Lodi Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601 or St. Mary of Assumption Church (renovation fund), c/o St. Mary Church offices, 17 Winter Street, Milford, MA 01757 these were the two churches Josephine loved to worship at.
