Obituary of Antoinette Theresa Enrico
ANTOINETTE T. ENRICO, of Hackensack passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the age of 94. Antoinette was born in Hoboken, raised in Union City and lived most of her life in Hackensack, surrounded by a loving community of family and friends. After graduating from St. Michael's High School, she went on to earn a BA from St. Elizabeth's College and a MA from Montclair State Teacher's College. Always interested in learning, she earned additional credits from Columbia and NYU. Ann led the English Dept. at Ridgewood's Benjamin Franklin Junior HS. She created the student literary magazine, organized the variety show for several years, and served as a mentor to many younger teachers. Before going to Ridgewood and teaching English, Ann started her career at St. Michael's HS and Union Hill HS in Union City teaching Biology. While at UHHS the students elected her Junior Class Advisor and she was in charge of the cheerleaders. An active congregant of Holy Trinity Church, Ann taught religion to high school students. She was engaged with the homeless program, the Christmas Giving Tree and Christmas Gifts for Prisoners through the Social Concerns Committee. Ann also belonged to the Rosary Society, serving as president for 2 years. Ann took on the leadership roles of secretary and vice-president with the Trinity Council Columbiettes #747. At Hackensack Univ. Medical Center, she volunteered in Pastoral Care for 4 years. Ann also volunteered as a tutor at Holy Trinity School and helped at Carnival time. Ann was predeceased by her parents, Noel (1943) and Clelia (1975). Ann cared for her mother until Clelia's death. Her brother, Robert (2007) and sister-in-law Ugolina (2014), her cousin Joseph (1989) and Joe's wife Judith (1978). She is survived by various cousins and friends. As she wished, Ann died at home surrounded by loving kindness. The funeral will begin on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 9:45 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, 497 Maitland Avenue, Teaneck, NJ 07666.
