Obituary of Giuseppa Meli

GIUSEPPA "JOSEPHINE" GIAMMONA MELI of Hackensack died Tuesday, July 11, at the age of 89 years. Prior to retiring she had worked as a tailor for Lyndhurst Coat Factory in Hackensack for many years. She was a member of The International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU). She was a parishioner of St. Francis R.C. Church, Hackensack and a member of their St. Pio Prayer Group. Beloved wife of the late Calogero "Charlie" Meli who passed away in 2012. Loving mother of Gae Marini and her husband Robert, Paul Meli and his wife Janelle and Maria Visconti and her husband Peter. Devoted grandmother of Danielle, Rob, Sabrina, Jacqueline, Nicholas, Stephanie, Alyssa, Amanda, Daniel and Jonathan. Great grandmother of Giuliana, Mia, Liam, Milania and Raegan. Dearest sister of Maria Battaglia of Palermo, Italy, and she is also pre-deceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Cherished aunt of several nieces and nephews. The funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, July 15, at 9:45 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Washington Township. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 – 9:00 PM for visitation.
