Obituary of Harry Jones Leiding
HARRY J. LEIDING, of Bogota, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, surrounded by family. Born in Jersey City, N.J., to Fred and Dorothy Leiding. Upon his graduation from Hackensack High School in 1966, Harry was drafted to the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany, where he served with distinction. He returned stateside following his discharge and joined the U.S. Postal Service in his home state of New Jersey, where he enjoyed an accomplished 37-year career. After retiring from the Postal Service, Harry continued to work for Great White Mechanical. He was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Hackensack, NJ. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #142 in Maywood, NJ. Harry loved his family deeply and was a friend to many. He lived a full and happy life. As a young man, he was an equestrian and photographer. In his later years, he treasured time with family and friends and enjoyed travel and trips to the beach. Always quick with a joke, Harry made fast friends with most everyone he met. He was handy and resourceful and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Harry is survived by Regina G. (Nardini) Leiding, his loving wife of 38 years, his sister Dorothy Alice and brother-in-law Robert H. Hotz, Sr., his daughter Regina N. Neumann, his son-in-law Dylan Neumann, his grandchildren Dylan and Isabella Neumann, and his nephews and niece Robert, Bradford, Jonathan, Jeffrey and Kimberly Hotz. Harry is also survived by many other family members and close friends. The funeral on Monday, October 30, at 9:45 AM from the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at Second Reformed Church, 436 Union St, Hackensack, at 11:00 AM. Cremation will be private. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 – 3:00 & 5:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations in the name of Harry J. Leiding to the Lustgarten Foundation, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797 (Attn: Cathy Weber) a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance scientific and medical research related to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic cancer.
