Obituary of Kathleen Zisa Stacey

KATHLEEN ZISA STACEY, of Montpelier, Virginia, formerly of Hackensack, NJ passed away on January 15, 2015. She was 71. An English major at Bethany College and a student in residential architectural design at the New York School of Design, she also attained her Juris Doctor from Nova University in Florida. Kathy put all her talents to work. She owned a boutique law practice in Glen Allen, Va., where she specialized in business, estate, insurance and real estate law. Kathy was known for her client-oriented, hands-on approach to her practice. She was a member of the Florida, Virginia and District of Columbia bar associations. On the weekends, Kathy enjoyed photography, watercolors, and, more recently, oils. She felt that her paintings captured the fleeting moments of happiness and inspirational beauty which occur every so often. Her paintings were exhibited widely and earned her numerous awards and critical acclaim. After a lifelong commitment to health, Kathy went back to school to become a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild. She became a Certified Professional Herbalist, a distinction very few have achieved. She never practiced professionally but used her knowledge to help her animals and close family and friends. A true champion of the environment and all living creatures, Kathy lived in the Virginia countryside with their dogs, cats and other animals. Her land is certified as a wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Kathy is survived by her husband, Wyatt, and her brother, Joseph Zisa, and his wife, Gail, of Hackensack, and their children, Lauren Zisa Samulka, Christine and Gregory. She also had a grandnephew, Alexander, and a grandniece, Talina. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the German Shepherd Rescue Club and the ASPCA. Memorial service to be announced at a later date.
