Robert, known by friends and family as Bob, was born on November 17, 1927, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Henry and Anne Lewis. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and attended St. Peter's College.
Robert enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and served on the USS George Clymer in the Pacific. Following WWII, he served in the US Naval Reserve.
In 1950 he married the love of his life Marie Van Den Biesen, residing first in Palisades Park and moving in 1954 to Hackensack, New Jersey, where he and Marie raised their family.
Robert had a long career as a purchasing manager for several companies, including New Jersey Machine, Mobay, and GAF. He retired in 1987.
He was an avid audiophile, a scoutmaster for Troop 11, a vegetable gardener, a skilled woodworker, and a life long fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the New York Football Giants, and the New York Mets.
Robert is survived by a brother Harold Lewis (Brenda) of Meadville, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Anita Glynn (Albert) of West Suffield, Connecticut, and Elisabeth Adams (William) of Chicago, Illinois; a son, Robert Lewis, Jr., (Stacey) of Nashua, New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren: Timothy, Megan, Katherine, Anna, Anne, Robert, John, William, James, Mara, and Madelynn; and one great-grandchild, Nathaniel. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marie.
The family is grateful for the loving care he received from his aide Winnoa (Winnie) Morris.
