Obituary of Alfred Malagiere

Alfred Malagiere, of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018, at the age of 83 years. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he lived in Hackensack for more than 80 years. Prior to retiring he was the Executive Director of the Housing Authority for the City of Hackensack from 1978-2001. He was also the former Chairman for the Bergen County Housing Authority. He served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict being Honorably Discharged from the United States Army. Al was a parishioner at Holy Trinity R. C. Church where he was a trustee for many years. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Hackensack. He loved woodworking and was a master of wood craftsman and gave all his work to family, friends, and church. Beloved husband of Concetta V. (nee Yanni) for 63 years. Devoted father of Alfred D. Malagiere and his wife Pamela of Newtown, PA, Michael T. Malagiere and his wife Sandra of West Caldwell, and Richard Malagiere and his wife Angela of Hackensack. Cherished grandfather of Meghan, David and Michelle. Dearest brother of Anne Schaitberger and her husband Thomas of Teaneck, and Thomas Malagiere and his wife Mary of Toms River. The funeral on Friday, December 21st, at 9:45 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, with burial following at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive on Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 PM and Thursday from 4 – 8 PM. The family prefers that you honor his memory with a memorial donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142
