Obituary of John L. Stavola
JOHN L. STAVOLA, (Big Pop), of Hackensack, formerly of Englewood, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2014, at the age of 88 years. Prior to retiring he owned A. Answer Phone of Englewood and D. Stavola and Sons Construction Company in Hackensack for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, member of the American Legion of Hackensack, Serra International, Past Exalted ruler of B.P.O.Elks #658 Hackensack, member of Madonna Council #520 Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, member of the Holy Sepulchral and Knights of St. Gregory. He was a parishioner and Eucharist Minister of St. Cecilia, Englewood. Beloved husband of 67 years to Rose M. Stavola (nee Squillace). Devoted father of Dominick J. Stavola of Hackensack and Maria Giorgio and her husband Jack of Hackensack. Cherished grandfather of Melissa MacKenzie and her husband Scott of Carlstadt, John A. Giorgio II of Wallington, Michael P. Giorgio of Wilmington, VT. Big Pop of Jake, Skylar and Lucas MacKenzie and Michael John Giorgio. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Church, 55 W Demarest Ave, Englewood, at 10:00 AM with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. In lieu of Flowers please make donations in John’s memory to the Tomorrows Children Foundation, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack, NJ 07601.
