I was sad to learn (just today) that Bernadette has passed away. She was my first bassoon teacher when I was in junior high school and she was at Juilliard. She taught me in her home in Jackson Heights. I admired her and was always grateful to her for all she did for me and for being such a wonderful teacher. She was my teacher until I went to college in Boston. We stayed in touch in the 70's, but lost touch as marriage, children, life took us in different directions. And throughout the years I thoight about her with fondness and gratitude.
May her memory be eternal.
May her memory be blessing.
Respectfully,
Francesca Michaelides Weiss

I always valued Bernadette’s honesty, humor and integrity both as a musician and person. Outspoken and empathetic Bunny was a wonderful colleague. Rest In Peace my good friend.

Bernadette “Bunny” was a special person. This was a universal feeling amongst those at the High School of Music and Art 1960-1963. Everyone knew her as a kind, sweet and genuine person. She stood above all of us as a unbelievably talented bassoonist. I was honored to have known her as a person and great musician. I played the oboe in the orchestra with her and constantly marveled at her superb musicianship. We reconnected at our 25th and 50th class of 1963 reunions. She never lost her down to earth demeanor. What a jewel of a person. Though we hardly communicated, it was impossible to not think of her at almost every concert I attended since our graduation. We will all miss her whether friend or family. She was in a sense family to us all. May she Rest In Peace. Sigmund Gould.

I have very fond memories of ''Bunny" from our time spent together at Music and Art Highschool in the early 1960's.I sat next to her in the bassoon section of the Senior Orchestra for two wonderful years and marveled at her great talent. Her wonderful tone and clarity of phrasing music sparkled.
She was a beautiful serene person both outside as well as inside.
May your soul rest in peace,Dear "Bunny"!

We were carpool mates for almost 20 years, on our way to NYCity Opera, and went through a lot of life experiences and changes as we went over the GW Bridge and down the West Side Highway. I will miss her sharp humor, her intelligence and our happy times after retirement. She and Jim had a great marriage, and I send love and wish for strength for Jim after this sad loss.

Bernadette was a caring supportive friend and dear colleague for 43 years.
We laughed and cried together over life's joys and sorrows. We spent many long hours working together where she always brought a laugh or a joke to lighten our load. I can still hear her little giggle.
A generous hard working soul that loved her daughter Kathryn and her husband Jim deeply.
I will miss you dearly.

Bernadette was a most wonderful person to be with. A good tale teller and a good listener. She was compassionate, smart, generous, and could be funny and silly with the best of them. A hard worker all her life, she deserved a much longer, fuller, happier retirement, and for that, I remain saddened. Our regard for each other lasted longer than our sister-in-law status, and that says more about her grace and goodness than I can describe, here. Love, and wishes for peace and comfort to those who mourn her. RIP, my friend.

We are so sad to learn of Bernadette's passing. She was a very special person and colleague. I have so many fond memories of times we spent together at work at the Met, in our carpool, and on tour in Europe and Japan. She was incredibly successful and respected for her musical contributions but she was never stuck up or boastful. I can hear her giggle in my imagination. She was a wonderful mother and wife, daughter and niece. I feel lucky to have known her and to have been a friend.
