Obituary of Joseph Gadsden

Joseph "Joe" Gadsden Jr., of Teaneck, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck at the age of 83 years. He was born in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, on February 19, 1936, to Joseph Gadsden Sr. and Christerphine McNeil. Prior to retiring, Joe was a fixture at Valley Ford of Westwood where he worked for many years. He acted in the capacity as a valet, helped with deliveries, helping with motor vehicle documentation and retrieving auto parts. He proudly served his country during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Navy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post # 1429 of Teaneck. Joe had a passion and was an avid fisherman. Beloved husband of the late Janis Brown Gadsden who passed away in 1997. He leaves behind two daughters, Dr. Valerie Gadsden and her husband Mokhter Ferouhi of Teaneck and Lynda G. Ruiz and her husband Vidal of Bronx, NY, his son, Joseph Gadsden III of Teaneck, Five grandchildren, Dana, Robert, Vidalya, Ramzy and Moonir , four great grandchildren, Ayden, Amani, Jae'lyn, El'yask two sisters, Loureen Ferguson of South Carolina and Louvenia Middleton and her husband Moses of South Carolina. He was predeceased by his brother the late Samuel Gadsden. The family will pray with the Rev. Dr. Lester W. Taylor Jr. Pastor of the Community Baptist Church of Englewood, on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 with burial following at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30 until the time of the service.
