Robert was an institution in Allendale. I would comment to any friend that visited how getting your hair cut at Robert's was like being in Mayberry. You would always see someone from town and catch up on the local news. He was always in a great mood (even when his beloved Mets lost) His smile was as big as his mustache. He had a green thumb, the lemon tree he had in his shop was so big he had to bring it home. The geranium in the shop was abundant with flowers. May he rest in peace and will be greatly missed. With deepest sympathy, Robert has been a good friend and my barber since we opened Bernie’s Bagels almost 20 years ago. He always had a smile on his face and always had something nice to say. I was with him on Wednesday morning. He will be deeply missed.

My sincere condolences to all. Robert was my barber I guess since the late 70s thru the 80s, of which I have very fond memories. He was always a class act and I respected him fully even as a young kid. It was a great moment to see him walking along the street the week I opened up my store across from him many years after my first haircut. He’ll be missed by many, but more importantly, remembered.
