Obituary of Mario Mea

Mario Mea, of South Hackensack, our beloved Father and Grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at the age of 83 years. Prior to retiring in 2008 he worked as a Tractor Trailer Driver for Atlantic Coast Fibers in Passaic for 19 years, before he worked for Bruno & D'Elia in Hackensack for 21 years. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis R.C. Church Hackensack. Born in Naples, Italy he settled in Montreal, Canada in 1965, then moved to Hackensack, in 1969 and in 1970 he married his true love Carmela Di Piazza. Mario enjoyed spending time with his loving family, sitting on his front steps talking with friends and neighbors, playing with his grandson Domenico and riding his bicycle. Devoted husband to the late Carmela (nee Di Piazza) 2017. Loving father to Domenick Mea and his wife Immacolata. Cherished grandfather to Domenico Mea Jr. Dearest brother to Nicolina Vertuccio and her late husband Giovanni, the late Benedito Mea and his wife Paolina, the late Nicola Amabile Mea and his wife the late Rosa. Brother-In-law to the late Frank Trupio and his wife Connie, the late Vincenzo and the late Vincenza Di Piazza, Angelo and Francesca Fragapane and the late Giuseppe Di Piazza. Mario is also survived by his nieces and nephews Antonio, Giuseppina, Giuseppina, Nancy, Al, Mike, Rosa and her son Vito, Michael, Gaetano and Rosa. The Funeral will begin on Monday September 27, at 8:45 AM at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM for visitation at the funeral home.
