Obituary of Giovanna Montanti

The kind-hearted Giovanna Montanti (nee Cacciato) of Paramus, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 6th, 2021 at the age of 83. A beloved companion and treasured wife of Vincenzo Montanti for 55 years. A devoted and loving mother to Salvatore V. Montanti, 38. A wonderful daughter to the late Giuseppe and Rosa Cacciato. A cherished sister to the late Sorella Eleonora Cacciato, the late Giuseppina Guagente, the late Salvatore Cacciato and his wife Frances, Maria and her husband the late Diego Ferro, John and his wife the late Antonia Cacciato, Michele and his wife Josephine Cacciato, and Gioacchino "Jack" Cacciato, adored padrino of Salvatore Montanti. Giovanna is also survived by her beloved paesani Stefano and Maria Tramontana, godparents to her son Salvatore. She was adored by all of her nieces and nephews as well as anyone who had the pleasure of spending a memorable moment with her. Giovanna was born in Montenegro and raised in Canicatti, Sicily before she moved to the U.S. during the 1970's where she settled with her family in Hackensack. Anyone visiting Giovanna was greeted with espresso, homemade pizza, and figs from the tree she grew with her family. She took great pride in her seamstress, beautician, and cooking skills. Though, most important to her, was the love she shared for her friends and family. She always made sure that anyone who came over was at least 10 pounds heavier before they left. Till this day; loved ones still remember the echoes of the past saying; "Ciao; Momma, Zia,Sorella, e` Amica." The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday October 12, at 1:30 PM at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack. Entombment will follow at Hackensack Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM for visitation at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ
