Our sincere condolences to our cousins and their families. Joe was a wonderful dad, and I used to babysit for the girls when they were young and lived on Fair St. We used to run into him at the Heritage Diner and share a bit of catching up news. May he Rest In Peace , joining in Heaven with Uncle Joe and Aunt Helen.

Joseph was a very special person to me. Not only dd we work together for so many years but he was a good friend to me growing-up on Fair Street in Hackensack during the 50s. (I think he was secretly in love with my older sister Martha.) He will be missed by me and many others in and out of the Hackensack Fire Department. Joe was one of the men that made our department what it is today; a department that is looked up to not only here in Hackensack but throughout the state. I was so proud of him when he became a certified EMT and represented our department as such. He was a rarity. Kind, considerate and always thinking of the other guy beside himself. I am retired now but I often think of the of the men in our department that was very much like him. I will carry the memory of him forever... Fire Chief Richard Johnson (Ret.)
