Obituary of Cynthia M McGilchrist

Cynthia Marie McGilchrist (nee Sims) of Teaneck, returned to the arms of passed loved ones on March 6, 2022. Cynthia was born July 22, 1943 to Junius Simms and Alma Dance. She grew up in South Boston, Virginia and later moved to Montclair, NJ where she pursued her dream of a singing career as a member of the girl group, The Cinderellas. Upon leaving the group and moving to Washington DC, she met Captain John McGilchrist. After their courtship and marriage they moved to NYC and begin their family. She loved singing, dancing, good food and most of all, her grandchildren. Cynthia is survived by her husband John McGilchrist, their two loving sons, Troy (Bryan Mathison) and Anthony (Jasmine Jusino-McGilchrist), and their granddaughters, Angela McGilchrist and Alicia McGilchrist. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister Dorethea Whitlow and her nephew, Byron Raney. The Funeral will begin on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 8:45 AM at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ on Tuesday March 15th. The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 - 9PM for visitation.
