Obituary of Marie E. Rando

Marie E. Rando, (nee DeFazio) formerly of Hoboken, Oradell, and Cape May passed away peacefully on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the age of 87 years. Prior to retiring, she worked as a nurse for Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck and Hudson Regional Medical Center in Secaucus where she worked in Pediatrics. She loved children and her job. But her dream was to be a fashion designer. She gave that up to marry the love of her life, Alfred. Marie had a sparkling personality, sweet smile, and crystal blue eyes that would light up a room. She was kind and loving. She loved cooking and baking for her family and friends and their door was always open with a seat at the table. She was a true homemaker and crafter. She loved working with her hands, knitting, crocheting, and she could sew anything! Her dream was to live in Cape May, and they did. They built their dream home where they vacationed for many years and then lived for 25 beautiful years. Cape May will always be home for the family, having many wonderful memories together on the beach. Beloved wife of 64 years to the late Alfred "Al" Rando (2021). Devoted mother of Mark Rando, Marcy Rando and Kerri Gutierrez and her husband Jose. Loving grandmother of Joseph and Kyle. Dearest sister of Tommy DeFazio and his wife Kathy, Anna Vitolo and her husband Joey and the late Nancy Fatone. Cherished aunt of many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and also survived by her former daughter in law Laurie and many other loving relatives and friends. A prayer service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 13, 2022, at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Avenue, Jersey City, NJ. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM for visitation at the funeral home.
