Obituary of John B Rodriguez

Sunrise: July 16, 1949 – Sunset: November 21, 2022 Juan Baptiste Rodriguez (also known as John B. Rodriguez) was born July 16, 1949 in Manhattan, New York to the late Juan and Haydee Rodriguez. In the early morning of November 21, 2022, he departed this earthly life and entered into eternal peace with the Lord. John graduated from the State University of New York at Albany or SUNY Albany. . He was an active member of the school's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and attended several EOP reunions since graduation. John retired from NYNEX (New York Telephone) after a 30-year career. He was actively employed by the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) as a Manager in Subways, Support & Safety Operations. John was a lifetime member of the fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated and an active member of Kappa Theta Lambda Chapter. John was a hard-working man who lived a life of service. He regularly participated in service projects with his fraternity and mentored young men in his community. John was previously a soccer and softball coach; and assisted with Bingo and pancake breakfasts at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Although, John was a private person, he always remained a confidant and great source of wisdom to family, close friends, chapter brothers, and co-workers. John was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be greatly and lovingly missed. A loving husband, dutiful father and grandfather, supportive sibling, caring uncle and loyal friend, John leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sylvia D. Rodriguez, three daughters, Noemi, Whitney and Jessica, two grandsons, Caesar (CJ) Reeder and Kyheim Ruffin, his fraternal twin, Carlos (Charlie) Rodriguez, his sister Yvonne Rodriguez-Casillas, his uncle and aunt, Wilfredo Bruno Sr. and Leticia Sanabria, cousins; Migdalia (Mindy) Pesante, Sonia Maisonet-Reed, Angelica (Angie) Ortiz-Russo, and Hortensia (Daisy) Morales. His goddaughters, Alexandra Dunlop (and her mother Libby) and Amber Bowman (and her mother Etwin); former wife Jeannette Colon and her daughter Zoe Colon, and host of cousins, nieces and nephews, fraternity brothers, and dedicated friends. A prayer service will be held 6:00 PM, Wednesday, November 30th, 2022, at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. Cremation will be private. The family will receive guests on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation at the funeral home.
