I'm going to share a memory which is a true story.
I want to say that you said something to me when we were driving over the bridge to Manhattan.
you're such a nice guy Larkin why? I never got in trouble again after hearing that.
My story it was around 2000 and I told Mr Luciano which I had on retainer back then.
I got an issue in Pennsylvania by Penn State Bellefonte.
I ain't going to drive out there you can take care of it. I was like so good at this that I handled my own beginnings. I would go in and you know saying I'm not guilty and you know I'm going to retain a lawyer.
I leave you know no one does that in a criminal case. I don't know I just got to the point where you know I needed him.
I walk into this courthouse in Bellefonte Pennsylvania I look at it and I go oh s*** I ran to the phone. I go Mr Luciano I go Mr L. I got a problem he's like what I go this place is crazy I mean it's like the movies you know when you see the English guy in England with the with the judge with the powdered wigs .

A unique and wonderful presence in my life and in the legal world of Bergen County. While serving my Judicial clerkship for the criminal assignment Judge Ben Galanti in 1968-1969 he told me to watch Frank try cases telling me he was unique, skilled and a gentleman. I watched and was mesmerized by his style, his fierce advocacy and his personal warmth to me. I have practiced for over 50 years, tried numerous cases and his influence became a kind of part of me. I genuinely loved the man, had the pleasure of knowing his daughters especially Nancy and Diane and had dinner with him and the lovely Dolores. I was the Emcee of his 90 and 92nd birthday parties where I kind of roasted him good natured Lu and he called me to thank me and periodically he called me to say “young man” I have been hearing good things about you, which made me feel the best had recognized me. I will miss him roaming the halls of the Court House, we will all miss Frank. In the legal community. His family has a wonderful legacy to savor. Jay Atkins

Thank you to Diane, Nancy, Dolores and my late great friend Susan for allowing the world to share your father and husband. The walls of the Bergen County Courthouse melodically called out “Hello, Young Lady” and “hello Young Man”.. For 71 years, lawyers, Judges and all who worked in the Courthouse were honored to have this gentleman (and the word fits perfectly) in our presence. A while back a client called asking for a referral for a criminal defense attorney and without hesitating, I said “Call Frank Lucianna”, My client said “that’s funny, that’s what the police officer said.” I knew him professionally for 40 years. I had the distinct pleasure of knowing him as my dear friend Susan’s Pa. The legal profession was enhanced because he was our mentor. He taught us each person was entitled to the best defense and he was the best defense. He taught us that we may be adversaries but we were not enemies. His civility, his grace, his intelligence, his warmth guided us and will for the rest of our days. That the flags at the Bergen County Courthouse will be flown at half staff in his honor and his memory are an indication of the professional legacy he leaves behind. To me, his greatest legacy are the three daughters he raised, those two wonderful grandchildren, (in so many ways) and the woman behind the man, few of the finest individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing.
