Obituary of Salvatore Ricotta

Salvatore Ricotta of Maywood died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday December 10, 2022 at the age of 87. Salvatore was born on April 14, 1935 in Alia, Sicily. He grew up on his family farm. He served in the Italian Army. After completing his service he immigrated to Germany where he lived and worked for over a decade. He then immigrated to the United States where he settled in Bergen County. He married and started a family. He was a strong, loving, and caring man who put his family first. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, He became a union member of Laborers International Union of North America, Local #3; he was a member for 50 years. He worked at many construction sites including: Bergen County Jail, Bergen County Justice Center, and Hackensack Medical Center. After his retirement he spent more time with his family and traveled. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 2000. He enjoyed tending his vegetable garden and fruit trees. He was also an exceptional wine maker. Beloved husband of Carmela (nee Savoia), married 50 years. Loving father to John Ricotta, Gaetano Ricotta and his wife Lisa. Cherished grandfather to Stella, Dylan, and Ryan. Dearest brother of Carolina Zarcone and her husband Antonino, the late Francesca Martino and her husband Giuseppe, brother-in-law of Carmelo Savoia and his wife Rosaria, and Gioseppina Giofre and her husband Domenico. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. The Funeral will begin from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, on Thursday, December 15, at 9:45 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, 400 Maywood Ave, Maywood. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories in the Township of Washington. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM for visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to: The Michael J.
