Obituary of Kathryn H. Begley

Kathryn Heck Begley, cherished wife of Robert W. Begley and longtime resident of Teaneck, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2023 at the age of 89 years. Raised in North Tarrytown, NY, she graduated from the College of New Rochelle in 1955 and was employed by IBM in New York City, where she taught programming. Married in 1958, she raised five children. Always a spiritual person, Kathy co-founded the Spiritual Development Training Center for the Archdiocese of Newark, taught Spiritual Direction, was a Retreat Director and was a Spiritual Director for more than 40 years. When she was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Parish in Hackensack, NJ, she was very active in Cornerstone, the Parish Council, and the Spirituality Committee. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Trinity Church, Hackensack University Medical Center and Holy Name Hospital. Kathy is survived by her children and their spouses: Jeanne (Begley) and Benoit Lefevre, Thomas and Dottie Begley, David and Mary Begley, Susan (Begley) and John Fitter, and Daniel and Ally Begley; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Begley and Dolores Heck; and 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Sabrina, Anne, Timothy, Leah, Taylor, Ciara, Renaud, Risa, Ella, Yolaine and Jack. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert Begley; her parents Lincoln and Kathryn; her son John; daughter Ann; sister-in-law Jane Begley; and three brothers, Rev. Harry Heck, Frank Heck and A. Lincoln Heck. Memorial services will be held at the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM.
