Obituary of Dominick J. Stavola

Dominick "Dom" J. Stavola, of Hackensack, died peacefully on April 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Dominick was an Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus, with 51 years of distinguished service. He led Madonna Council #520, Englewood, as Grand Knight, and was currently a proud member of Immaculate Conception Council #9021, Norwood, he also served as Faithful Navigator of the Msgr. Charles G. McCorristin Assembly, 4th Degree, where he performed as a Color Corpsman for over 30 years. He was a multi-year Past Chairman of the Bergen County Chapter, K of C, and an outstanding member of two ceremonial Degree teams, he was a member and former officer of the B.P.O.Elks Lodge #658 in Hackensack, where he was awarded "Life Membership" last year in honor of his 50 years of membership. He served the offices of Inner Guard and Chaplain and he was chairman of the Veterans, Youth Activities, and Special Children's committees. His favorite activity was our annual Christmas Tree Sale and he was a long time member of the Lion Club. Prior to retiring in 2015 he worked in the Maintenance Department at Bergen Regional Medical Center, Paramus for 25 years, prior he was an office manager for A. Answer Phone in Englewood for 26 years. He was a member of St. Cecilia's R.C. Church, Englewood, where he was also an Usher. Devoted son of Rose M. (nee Squillace) and the late John L. Stavola (2014). Dearest brother of Maria R. Giorgio and her husband John. Cherished Uncle of Melissa MacKenzie and her husband Scott, John Giorgio and his wife Shanae and Michael Giorgio and his wife Anna. Adored great uncle of Jake, Skylar, Lucas, Michael, Emery, Ashton, Reed and Weston. The family will receive friends on Monday April 17, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM for visitation at the funeral home. The Funeral will begin on Tuesday April 18, 2023, at 8:45 AM from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Cecilia's R.C. Church, 55 West Demarest Avenue, Englewood, NJ at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack.
