Obituary of Ronald A. Battersby

Ronald A. Battersby May 4, 1934 – July 26, 2023. Ron ("Dad") was born in Paterson NJ, grew up in Wayne, and lived most of his life in Bergen County and Beach Haven, NJ. Dad was a skilled mechanic, with a career spanning over 60 years, he worked on diesel engines, heavy machinery, and all types of equipment. Over the years, he was employed by Arrow Carrier, Karcher, and Pen-Pac among others, and most recently at Versa Products, where he worked until he was in his 80s. Dad worked well into his retirement years because he enjoyed being active and teaching others. Dad was inspired at a young age by his grandfather, who said "you can do it, Ron," and he always remembered this and he could do just about anything. He was ambitious and hard-working, and was always planning, designing or building something. Over the years, he rebuilt cars and boats, and built machinery, garages, and the house in Beach Haven that he and his family have enjoyed for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, and was interested in antique tractors and farming which reminded him of his youth. His perseverance and creativity were an inspiration to many. Dad is survived by Ethel, his wife of over 50 years, his sister Alice; his children Loreen, Ronnie (Phyllis), Jim and Rob (Anastasia); his daughter in law Janet; his grandchildren, Barbara (Sal), Jamie, Brian (Caitlyn), Eric, Sophia and Billy; his great grandchildren, Gianna, Bella, Olivia Lillia and Nora, and nieces and nephews and in-laws including the Jordan, Wilkinson, Kuhn, Lisica and Marositz families. He will be missed by all. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 30, from 3-7 pm, funeral service on Monday, July 31, at 12:30 pm, at G.
